If you're thinking about the Preciva 18PCS File Set for working with sheet metal or similar tough projects, let's talk about how the handles hold up. The files themselves are made from high carbon steel, specifically T12 drop-forged alloy steel, which is well-known for being durable. This makes the files good for all sorts of tasks like shaping, cutting, and polishing materials like wood, metal, and rubber.
But when it comes to the handles, there are a few things to keep in mind. According to our research, there have been some reports about the rubber and plastic handles coming loose or breaking, especially during heavy-duty use like filing sheet metal. It's something that could really interrupt your work if it happens in the middle of a project.
If you're planning on using them a lot for tough jobs, it might be a good idea to reinforce the handles yourself. Some folks have suggested using an adhesive to keep them secure, which could give them a sturdier grip.
Generally, the set is pretty well-liked for its versatility; it includes a good variety of file shapes and sizes for less intense tasks. But if you're primarily working with heavy-duty materials and handle durability is a big concern, you might want to consider investing in a different set with more robust handle construction.
In short, the Preciva 18PCS File Set is a great choice for many filing projects, but you might need to do a little extra work on the handles if you're tackling more demanding tasks. Alternatively, consider a set that's built for intense use if the handles are a major concern for you.
