The MacBook Neo fully supports Apple Intelligence—Apple markets it as "Built for AI." The A18 Pro's 16-core Neural Engine enables fast, private on-device AI processing.
Supported Features
All current Apple Intelligence capabilities work on the Neo:
| Category | Features | |----------|----------| | Writing Tools | Summarize, rewrite, proofread, adjust tone | | Smart Communication | Smart Replies in Mail and Messages | | Photo Editing | Clean Up tool, intelligent object removal | | Creative | Genmoji creation, Image Playground | | Siri | Enhanced natural language, deeper integration |
Performance Claims
Apple states the Neo handles AI workloads up to 3x faster than comparably-priced Windows laptops with Intel Core Ultra 5 processors.
Real-world testing confirms smooth performance:
- AI features run responsively in the background
- System remains stable with Apple Intelligence active
- Battery impact: approximately 5-10% additional drain per hour
The 8GB Question
Despite having half the RAM of other Apple Intelligence Macs, the Neo handles current AI features without issue. Apple specifically optimized the software for this configuration.
Future Considerations
As Apple Intelligence expands with more advanced features, the 8GB ceiling could potentially become limiting. For current capabilities, however, the $599 MacBook Neo delivers capable AI performance.
Users prioritizing maximum AI headroom for future features may prefer the MacBook Air's 16GB configuration, but the Neo handles today's Apple Intelligence effectively.
