If you're wondering about the safety of using Qualirey bug zappers around kids and pets, it's definitely something to keep in mind. The manufacturer mentions that these zappers have a protective outer casing to help avoid accidental contact with the electric grid, which makes them safer compared to the ones with open coils.
Still, it's a good idea to place them out of reach from little hands and curious pets—just like you would with any electric gadget.
As for how well these zappers work against mosquitoes, our research shows a bit of a mixed bag. They use UV light to attract bugs, then zap them when they reach the grid. Some folks have found them helpful in cutting down mosquito populations on patios or in garages, even catching a variety of small bugs, which is a plus.
However, not all mosquitoes are drawn to UV light, so these might not be a magic bullet in areas with lots of mosquitoes. They might end up zapping more other kinds of insects than actual mosquitoes, which could be disappointing if you're dealing with a serious mosquito problem.
Another thing to think about is durability. Some of our research points out that these zappers sometimes stop working after a few months, which could be a dealbreaker if you need something that lasts longer.
Overall, while the Qualirey zappers are a safe choice for households with kids and pets, they might work best alongside other mosquito control methods, like screens or repellents, especially in areas with a high mosquito population.
They're safe, but maybe not a complete fix by themselves.
