The Epson FastFoto FF-680W can scan photos with a maximum optical resolution of 600 dpi. This resolution should do a good job of capturing the details in your photos.
For photo sizes, according to the manufacturer's product description, it handles most of the common ones like 3.5 x 5, 4 x 6, 5 x 7, and 8 x 10 inches. It can also scan panoramas up to 36 inches long and even accommodate thicker photos like Polaroids.
The software that comes with it, also called FastFoto, allows you to edit your images with features like color correction and red-eye removal. Our research indicates these features work well most of the time, though they can be a bit inconsistent.
There are also some handy features for scanning both sides of a photo at once, which is great for any notes on the back. However, there seem to be occasional issues with the software, such as Wi-Fi connectivity and handling large volumes of photos, but the hardware itself is usually quite reliable.
So, if you're looking for a scanner that can handle various photo types and sizes with a decent resolution, the FastFoto FF-680W is a solid pick.
