The Makita XPK02Z 18V LXT planer is a handy tool if you're into woodworking and need something portable yet powerful.
Now, about the battery life—Makita doesn't give an exact number for how long the battery lasts with this model. It really depends on how you're using it and which 18V LXT battery you're using.
According to our research, folks have noticed that how long the battery lasts can vary. Generally, Makita's 18V LXT batteries provide pretty good run times across their tools. With the XPK02Z, you might find that it's enough for moderate to heavier tasks. If you're using a 5.0Ah battery, you could expect around 30-40 minutes of continuous use, but it's going to depend on what you're working on and how tough the material is.
The efficient brushless motor in the planer helps a lot, too. It's designed to be smart about battery usage, adjusting power based on how tough the job is, so you get more done without always having to charge up.
This brushless motor also tends to make the tool last longer, which a lot of people find appealing.
To get the most out of your planer's battery life, it’s smart to make sure your batteries are fully charged and maybe think about having a backup or two, so you can keep working without having to stop to recharge.
Also, keep those batteries in good shape by following Makita's guidelines—like storing them properly and not leaving them discharged for too long.
All in all, while the battery life can change depending on a few things, with the right setup, this planer is pretty efficient and is liked both by professional users and DIYers.
