The Ring Alarm 8-piece kit (2nd Gen) is pretty well-rounded if you're looking to boost your home security. It's packed with useful features, but keep in mind, to really make the most of it, you might want to think about the Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $10 a month. Without this plan, things like using the mobile app to arm or disarm the alarm, getting notifications, and changing the alarm modes aren't available.
We've found that some folks aren't thrilled about needing a subscription, especially if they were used to getting certain mobile features for free before this change. So, that's something to consider if you're eyeing this system.
Even though the subscription does mean an extra cost, it adds significant value. It gives you 24/7 professional monitoring and a cellular backup, which means your home's security stays intact even if your Wi-Fi goes down. A lot of people say they really appreciate the peace of mind knowing their home is always being monitored.
Outside of the subscription requirements, people often praise the Ring Alarm for its sleek look and how well it works. It can sync up with other smart home devices, especially those that work with Amazon Alexa, which can be useful if you're building out your smart home setup.
So, if you're thinking about getting the Ring Alarm 8-piece kit (2nd Gen), just remember that the Ring Protect Plan is a key part of getting the full experience. Its ease of use, design, and integration with other devices make it a solid choice, even if you have to account for the extra subscription fee.
