The Prang Oval Pan Watercolor Paint Set, 8 Count, comes with eight essential colors that you're likely to need for basic watercolor painting. Based on what the manufacturer describes, the set generally includes red, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, brown, and black. These give you a nice spread of colors to work with for mixing and creating a bunch of different tones, whether you're just starting out or you've been painting for a while.
The paints are housed in a sturdy white case that includes spaces for mixing, which is handy if you prefer to blend colors right there without making too much of a mess. The product description from the manufacturer mentions that a paintbrush is usually part of the deal.
However, our research has found that some sets have occasionally been delivered without it, which can be a bit of a pain, especially if you're buying the set for a gift or school use. If you happen to get a set without the brush, getting in touch with the retailer or manufacturer is a good idea—they're generally pretty responsive and might send out a replacement.
It could also be useful to have an extra brush, just to be safe. All in all, this set seems like a solid pick for anyone wanting to dive into watercolor painting using the basics, with the bonus of being easy on the wallet.
