The Mr. Heater Buddy MH9BX is designed with indoor safety features, like an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) and a tip-over safety shut-off. Basically, it's meant for indoor spaces as long as you follow the safety instructions. According to the manufacturer's details, it's intended for areas up to 225 square feet, and our research confirms it works well in these types of spaces if there's proper ventilation.
This heater runs on propane gas and works with a 1-pound cylinder. You can expect about 3 hours of heat on the high setting (9,000 BTU) and up to 6 hours on the low setting (4,000 BTU). If you need more time, you can connect it to a bigger propane tank with the right hose and filter. Just remember, it needs fresh air since it uses oxygen while running.
While lots of folks say it's easy to use and portable, some have mentioned issues with the pilot light ignition. Our research suggests this might happen if there's not enough ventilation, causing the ODS to kick in and turn the heater off.
Overall, if you use it correctly, the heater is reliable for indoor use, emergencies, camping, and outdoor activities.
So, when using any propane heater indoors, just make sure there's enough fresh air. Stick to the manufacturer's safety guidelines to get the best out of the heater and stay safe. Ventilation is key to keeping things safe and cozy.
