Hey, that's a really common question! The Mr. Heater Buddy MH9BX is a go-to for outdoor activities and emergency heating.
When you're using a 1 lb propane tank with it, the run time can vary based on the heat setting. According to the manufacturer, here's the scoop:
-
Low Heat Setting: At 4,000 BTUs, it's pretty efficient and should keep going for about 5 to 6 hours. It's a good choice if you're aiming to stretch out the propane and need it to last longer in a smaller space.
-
High Heat Setting: At 9,000 BTUs, you'll get about 2.5 to 3 hours of warmth. This is the way to go if you need to heat things up fast or if you're in a bigger, colder area.
Just remember, these are estimates. How long it actually runs can change with things like room temperature and how ventilated the area is.
Speaking of safety, the heater has a neat feature called an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) which kicks in and turns the heater off if oxygen levels drop too low. This is super important when you're using it indoors.
But it's still a good idea to have a carbon monoxide detector just to be extra safe.
So, if you're counting on using it for a longer stretch, you might want to have a few extra propane tanks ready. It's definitely user-friendly and comes with solid safety features, making it a trustworthy option for both your camping adventures and emergency heating needs.
Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and make sure there's good ventilation to keep things safe.
