The iPhone 17 Pro Max supports the fastest charging speeds of any iPhone. Here's what to expect.
Wired Fast Charging (USB-C)
Maximum Speed: 40W with a compatible USB-C Power Delivery adapter
Performance:
- 0% to 50% in approximately 20 minutes
- Full charge in about 1.5–2 hours
To achieve maximum speed, use any USB-C adapter rated 40W or higher. A 45W or 65W USB-C charger works perfectly.
MagSafe Wireless Charging
Maximum Speed: 25W with a 30W or higher power adapter
Performance:
- 0% to 50% in approximately 30 minutes
- Full charge in about 2.5–3 hours
Pair the MagSafe Charger with at least a 30W adapter for optimal wireless charging speed.
Qi2 Wireless Charging
Maximum Speed: Up to 25W with compatible Qi2 chargers
Qi2 chargers use MagSafe-style magnetic alignment. Quality Qi2 chargers can match MagSafe speeds, though results vary by manufacturer.
Standard Qi Wireless Charging
Speed: 7.5W to 15W depending on charger
Older wireless chargers still work but charge significantly slower.
What's Included
Apple includes only a USB-C to USB-C cable—no power adapter. You'll need to purchase a charger separately.
Recommended Accessories

For wireless charging:
- MagSafe Charger + 30W adapter
- Qi2 wireless charger
Heat During Charging
The iPhone 17 Pro Max features vapor chamber cooling that helps manage heat during fast charging. Some warmth is normal. If the phone gets too warm, charging slows temporarily to protect battery health.
