The North Face Wawona 6P tent does a decent job of handling wet weather, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind for better performance. From what we've seen, both the manufacturer and popular opinion say it's crafted with materials and construction that's meant to handle the rain.
The thing is, it doesn't come with a footprint—it's something you'll need to buy separately. This footprint can really boost how waterproof the tent is. It works as a protection layer for the tent floor, keeping it safe from rough ground and stopping water from sneaking in if the ground is wet.
A lot of folks find the footprint useful, especially if they're using the tent in wet areas often. It's a good investment if you're camping among rocks or wet areas because it not only helps with water but also helps the tent last longer.
So, while the Wawona 6P stands up to the weather pretty well on its own, adding that extra layer with a footprint might be a good idea if you know you'll be in damp conditions a lot. You can get footprints that fit well with the Wawona 6P, either from North Face or other stores.
In short, the tent's pretty solid against bad weather, but a footprint could be a handy backup—helping keep things dry and your tent in good shape for those adventures when the weather isn't on your side.
