Figuring out how long it takes to seal a bag with the Nesco VS-12 Vacuum Sealer really depends on the settings you use. If you go with the double seal function, it’s going to take around 32 to 33 seconds per bag. That can feel a bit slow if you’re sealing a lot of food at once. But you can speed things up by using the single seal setting, and you’ll still get a good seal.
This model has a strong 130-watt motor and a double vacuum pump, which means it’s pretty efficient, though it takes a bit longer with double seal. The manufacturer mentions that it offers three sealing options—dry, moist, and double—and you can pick between normal or gentle vacuum pressure. These features are pretty useful for dealing with different food types, like keeping pastries intact with the pulse function.
From what we've seen in our research, the Nesco VS-12 does a great job at keeping food fresh longer than typical storage methods. For example, lettuce can last for weeks if sealed properly. That’s a big plus if you’re trying to cut down on food waste.
As for usability, it’s got convenient extras like built-in bag storage and a cutter, which helps streamline the process. Some minor points to keep in mind are the non-removable drip tray and a bit of a slower cooling period between seals, but these don't seem to be major issues compared to its overall performance.
Ultimately, while you might need to be a bit patient during big sealing jobs, the Nesco VS-12 is known to be a sturdy and reliable machine.
It’s got a good range of options and is easy to use, making it a solid pick if you're looking to extend the shelf life of your groceries without breaking the bank.
