The Numbers

What Actually Matters

You can see it in sunlight. This is the big upgrade. Apple bumped peak brightness to 3,000 nits, up from 2,000 on last year's model. That's 50% brighter. The difference is obvious at the beach or on a patio. No more cupping your hand over the screen and squinting.

Everything is smooth. ProMotion adjusts the refresh rate on the fly. Scrolling through social media? Silky 120Hz. Looking at a still photo? Drops to save battery. You won't notice the transitions, just that everything feels fluid.

HDR content looks incredible. 1,600 nits for HDR movies means Dolby Vision content really pops. Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, highlights sparkle. If you watch a lot of content on your phone, you'll appreciate this.

The bezels are tiny. We're talking 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. The display goes nearly edge to edge.

What About Durability?

Apple upgraded to Ceramic Shield 2, which resists scratches better than before. There's also a new anti-reflective coating. Neither makes it indestructible, but both help.

The Bottom Line

This display is hard to criticize. Bright, smooth, color-accurate, and easy on the eyes. Unless you're putting it under a microscope comparing it to other flagships, you'll just think "this looks great" and move on with your day.
