The Metabo HPT NV45AB2 Roofing Nailer is pretty popular with both pros and DIY folks. It's known for being tough and efficient. As per the manufacturer's info, it'll handle roofing nails from 7/8 inch to 1-3/4 inches.
But we've found some mixed reviews about how it handles those longer 1-3/4 inch nails. Some people said the NV45AB2 struggles a bit with loading and firing the 1-3/4 inch nails consistently, even with proper tweaks. A few mentioned issues with 1-3/4 inch galvanized ring shank nails, and it led some to return the tool.
Doesn't mean everyone has a bad time, but if you're planning to work a lot with those bigger nails, it's something to think about.
On the upside, many appreciate the NV45AB2 for its sturdy build and reliable performance with the other sizes. Folks often talk about its smooth operation and how it holds up over time. Just make sure your air compressor can handle between 70 and 120 psi, as the manufacturer suggests, for the best performance.
When you stack it up against other brands, this nailer is solid in terms of durability and basic functionality. But if handling those bigger 1-3/4 inch nails smoothly is a deal-breaker for you, you might want to look into some other models that are great with larger sizes.
All in all, the Metabo HPT NV45AB2 stands up well in a lot of areas, and for most roofing jobs, it's a good option. Just keep the feedback about handling the longest nail size in mind. If big nails are your jam, you might want to check out other options too.
