The Top Shelf TSB-2438 bracket is mainly made for single or double-hung windows that are 24 to 38 inches wide, with a wall thickness of 6 to 12 inches and at least 10 inches of clearance below the window.

It's not really designed for sliding windows.

The manufacturer mentions that it won't work with slider, crank-out, casement windows, and some wood windows like the Anderson 400 series. It also shouldn't be used with slide-out air conditioning units and needs at least a 6-inch wall thickness. Plus, it works better with windows that have an outside sill rather than an inside one.

We've found that some people had trouble fitting this bracket on certain types of windows. For example, one person had issues with Pella replacement windows because of a thicker bottom design that messed with installation and water drainage.

Someone else found it hard to use in an old brick building because the support arm didn't reach the wall well. If your window ledge tilts downward, you might need to tweak the setup to avoid gaps.

So, make sure your windows match the bracket's requirements before buying it. If your sliding windows don't fit these specs, you might need to look for a different bracket that's made for that type of window.
