The NETGEAR EAX12 WiFi 6 Mesh Range Extender is pretty handy for boosting your WiFi coverage and speed, especially if you've got some annoying dead zones at home or if your internet feels sluggish. That said, it might not be a one-size-fits-all solution since the results can depend a lot on your home's layout and setup.
According to our research, the EAX12 does a good job of extending WiFi coverage, but some folks have run into signal drops, particularly in bigger homes or places with thick walls. While setting it up with the Nighthawk app tends to be straightforward, maintaining a stable connection sometimes involves a bit of experimenting—like moving it around or rebooting now and then.
The manufacturer's product description suggests using the Nighthawk app for setup to make it gel smoothly with your network. However, our findings show that the app can be a bit sluggish or temperamental sometimes. If you experience this, manual setup through a web browser could be your best bet for a more stable connection.
Placement is key—make sure the extender is within a good range of your main router and not obstructed by walls or other barriers. Also, it's designed to support up to 15 devices well. Connecting more than that might stretch its limits and slow things down.
Lastly, don't forget to keep the firmware updated—those updates can fix bugs and help with connectivity issues. If you're facing ongoing troubles or random signal losses, a reset might refresh things nicely.
And if you need a detailed walkthrough for the setup, check out the manufacturer's guide here.
So, while the EAX12 can definitely amp up your WiFi, getting it just right might take a bit of tweaking depending on your specific setup.
