Yep, the LG GP65NB60 External DVD Drive does work with Mac computers. It’s designed to be plug-and-play, so once you connect it to your Mac, it should start working without needing any extra software. That's pretty handy if you want to avoid complications.
Now, it does come with Cyberlink media software, which offers features like Power2Go and YouCam. But from what we've found, some folks think this software can be a bit much, with potential adware as part of the installation. For basic needs like playing DVDs or CDs, a lot of people skip installing it and choose lighter and ad-free software.
Mac users often lean towards free software like VLC Media Player for playing media. VLC is great because it handles lots of media formats and is easy to use. For burning CDs or DVDs, there are other simple and effective software options available as well.
Even though the manufacturer's documents talk about the extra features of the included software, like backups and disc labeling, you really don't need them for the main functions of the drive. If your main goal is just to read or write media discs, the LG GP65NB60 should do just fine without additional software. It's really up to what you need it for.
So, if you're looking for a Mac-compatible external DVD drive, the LG GP65NB60 is worth considering. It's easy to use, works right out of the box, and is pretty versatile if you just want something straightforward.
