Yep, the Leviton Decora Smart Voice Dimmer, model DWVAA-1BW, does need a neutral wire to work. This is important because the neutral wire keeps the dimmer powered on, even when your lights are off. This way, it can stay connected to Wi-Fi or your smart home system. According to the manufacturer's product description, this is pretty standard for most smart dimmers and switches nowadays.
From our research, folks who know their way around electrical wiring usually find the installation process pretty straightforward. However, if your home doesn’t have a neutral wire setup, you might have to do a bit more work. This could mean rewiring, so getting some help or hiring a professional might be a wise move if you're unsure.
Despite needing a neutral wire, many who have used it appreciate the dimmer's features, especially how it works with Alexa. You can control your lights using voice commands, which is super convenient. Plus, you get to tweak lighting settings, set schedules, and create scenes with the My Leviton app, making it a flexible choice for updating your home lighting.
So, if your home’s already got a neutral wire or you're planning to update it, the Leviton Decora Smart Voice Dimmer is a nifty option that plays well with popular smart home setups. It's a solid pick if you’re looking to modernize your lighting without much hassle.
