Yes, the Apple Watch Series 11 supports Workout Buddy, Apple's AI-powered personal trainer feature introduced in watchOS 26. This feature provides personalized, spoken motivation during workouts using Apple Intelligence.
How It Works
Workout Buddy analyzes real-time workout data (heart rate, pace, distance) alongside your fitness history to deliver contextual encouragement. The voice sounds like an authentic Apple Fitness+ trainer—Apple used real trainer voice data to create the text-to-speech system.
Feedback During Workouts
- Real-time metrics: pace, split times, heart rate updates
- Contextual motivation: "You're halfway there" or "Fastest mile this week"
- Milestone recognition: personal records, streaks, achievements
- Post-workout summary: time, distance, records set
Choose from two trainer voice options with different energy levels.
Supported Workouts
- Outdoor and Indoor Run
- Outdoor and Indoor Walk
- Outdoor Cycle
- HIIT
- Functional and Traditional Strength Training
Requirements
- Apple Watch: Series 6 or later
- iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro or later (Apple Intelligence required)
- Software: watchOS 26 and iOS 26
- Audio: Bluetooth headphones (required for voice feedback)
- Language: English only at launch
Privacy
All fitness data is processed on-device through Apple Intelligence, keeping your workout information private.
Value Proposition
