The KEF LS50 Meta speakers are pretty impressive in terms of sound quality, especially with their crystal-clear clarity and detailed sound. They're fantastic with vocals and higher frequencies, but when it comes to the lower bass notes, they might not hit as deep as you like, especially if you're big on bass.

From what we've found, these speakers have a sensitivity of 85dB/W/m and can go down to an impedance of 3.5 ohms, which means they perform best with a strong, high-quality amplifier. Quite a few people mentioned that pairing them with powerful amps like high-end class D GaN monoblocks really makes a difference.

But if you're using them with a less powerful setup, you might not get the same results.

As for whether you need a subwoofer, it really depends. A lot of folks suggest adding a subwoofer if you want a more bass-heavy sound or if you're setting up in a larger room. This can give you that extra low-end depth that the LS50 Metas might not fully deliver on their own.

In the end, the speakers do a great job by themselves, but if you're looking for deeper bass or setting them up in a spacious area, a subwoofer might be a good addition.

It's all about what kind of sound you're after and making sure your setup is powerful enough to support it.
