Hey, so Dri-Pak Soda Crystals are pretty popular for all sorts of cleaning tasks around the house.
However, when it comes to actually unclogging drains, they're not really praised for that particular job. From what we've found, they're not the best option for dealing with tough clogs directly. But they're quite useful for keeping your pipes clear over time by breaking down grease and grime.
Now, one thing to be aware of: how these crystals are shipped and stored can be a bit of a hassle. Apparently, if they get too hot during shipping, they can clump up into a solid mass. This happens because they liquefy with the heat and then become solid again once cooled down. If they clump, they're tricky to use since you'll need them to dissolve properly in water.
Someone even mentioned that they had to use a hammer to break apart the clump—kind of funny, but definitely annoying! The manufacturer doesn't specifically warn about this, but it seems to be a common issue according to what others have experienced.
If you live somewhere warm or order during the summer, it might be smart to think about how they'll be shipped and stored. Once you get them, keeping them in a cool, dry place can help avoid this clumping problem.
While these soda crystals are great for routine maintenance and stopping build-up in pipes, for real tough clogs, you might want something designed specifically for that.
Think of Dri-Pak as more of a preventative measure. If you're dealing with a stubborn clog, you might first try a specialized drain cleaner or a mechanical fix, and then use the soda crystals later on to help keep things running smoothly.
