Yeah, I'd say Bones REDS Skateboard Bearings are a pretty solid pick for beginners. They're well-liked in the skateboarding scene because they offer a nice mix of performance without breaking the bank. The company even highlights them as "Skate Rated," so they're designed to give you good performance and still be affordable.
A cool thing about these bearings is they come pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant. This cuts down on friction, giving you a smoother, faster ride, and helps them last longer too. From what we've found, folks often praise these bearings for how smooth and quiet they are. They say the quality and price are just right, especially if you're just getting started or want to step up from basic stock bearings.
While they're not as fancy as the high-end Bones Swiss or Ceramic bearings, it turns out the REDS still do a great job for everyday skating. Some people have mentioned hit-or-miss durability, with a few reports of defects or issues right out of the box.
But overall, most seem happy with them, so it seems those issues aren't too common.
If you're new to skating or watching your budget, Bones REDS are a step up from the basic bearings that usually come with beginner boards. They give you a taste of better hardware without spending too much.
So if you want an affordable upgrade to really improve your skating experience, Bones REDS are worth a shot. But if you're going for top-tier performance, you might want to consider higher-end options like Bones Swiss later on. For now, though, they're a great starting point for new skaters.
