Pros
- •Easy to assemble and suitable as a starter habitat for juvenile Jacksons and Veiled Chameleons.
- •Promotes good airflow due to the mesh design, important for the health of chameleons.
- •Provides a basic structure that can support a chameleon's thriving with necessary enhancements.
- •Affordable entry point for new chameleon owners, but requires additional investment for proper care.
Cons
- •The cage is too small and inadequate for long-term chameleon care; a larger 2' x 2' x 4' screen cage is recommended for adults.
- •The included UVB light is insufficient and could lead to health issues like Metabolic Bone Disease; a T5HO linear light is suggested as an upgrade.
- •Kit lacks essential elements such as live plants, a proper drainage system, and a misting system for humidity management.
- •The plastic plants and flimsy vine provided do not meet climbing and environmental needs, posing a risk if ingested.
- •Construction is somewhat flimsy and may need external support to prevent tipping.
- •Several pieces of necessary equipment, such as a dripper, humidity gauge, and appropriate substrate, are not included.
Bottom Line
The Zoo Med ReptiBreeze Chameleon Kit is a decent starting point for juvenile chameleons, providing a basic framework. However, it requires significant enhancements to meet the full needs of these pets as they mature. Be prepared to invest in a larger enclosure, better UVB lighting, live plants, and a humidity control system. Proper setup and research are crucial for the health and longevity of your pet chameleon. If you are looking for a more comprehensive solution, consider purchasing components individually to create a setup that fully supports a chameleon's requirements.
