Pros
- •Designed specifically for NAS (Network-Attached Storage) applications and performs reliably in that role
- •Operates quietly enough for bedroom use without causing significant disturbance
- •Solid durability reputation from the manufacturer
Cons
- •Makes clicking sounds during data access and write operations
- •Prices fluctuate frequently, requiring careful timing to get good value
- •Limited long-term durability data available from recent purchasers
Bottom Line
The WD Red Plus 6TB is a solid NAS-focused drive that delivers on its intended purpose, though you'll want to shop around for pricing since costs tend to fluctuate. The clicking sounds during operation are fairly typical for this class of drive, so that shouldn't be a dealbreaker if quiet operation isn't critical for your setup. We'd recommend checking current pricing against competing NAS drives to ensure you're getting fair value, as this drive's reputation suggests it's a capable workhorse rather than a standout bargain.
