Pros
- •Works great as a quick cleanup, especially for senior dogs or pets with limited mobility.
- •Pleasant lavender fragrance that many find better than some professional grooming products.
- •Waterless foam format is easy to apply and requires no rinsing, drying on its own.
- •Keeps the coat soft, manageable, and refreshed between full baths.
- •Effectively eliminates "wet dog" smell and freshens the coat for at least a day.
- •Ideal for active or outdoor dogs that need frequent cleanups without a full wash.
- •Cost-effective alternative to professional grooming or regular bathing.
- •Natural plant-based ingredients with essential oils deliver a nice scent and gentle cleaning.
- •Suitable for indoor use during cold weather when a full bath isn’t convenient.
- •Highly recommended by many users and worth repurchasing for ongoing use.
Cons
- •The lavender scent can be overpowering indoors, especially in larger dogs needing more product; best used outside.
- •Odor control tends to fade quickly, with freshness lasting only about a day.
- •Some users feel the scent is more medicinal than sweet, which may not appeal to everyone.
- •Mild cleaning power—while it freshens, it doesn’t fully eliminate strong odors or heavy dirt.
- •Lack of clear instructions about usage frequency leaves some users uncertain how often to apply.
- •May require daily use to keep coat consistently fresh, which can reduce value over time.
- •Not ideal for pets or owners sensitive to strong fragrances.
Bottom Line
If you need a convenient, no-rinse shampoo for quick freshening between baths—especially for senior or less mobile dogs—Wahl's Pet Friendly Lavender Waterless Shampoo is a solid choice with a pleasant natural scent and gentle cleansing power. However, if you want deeper odor control or a subtler fragrance, you might find the aroma a bit overpowering and the freshness short-lived. For those looking for a milder scent or stronger deodorizing effect, exploring other waterless options might be worth it.
