Cons
- •Connectivity to Sonos can be unstable and glitchy, causing frequent interruptions or sound dropouts during playback
- •The associated app often crashes, especially after updates, making Sonos setup and control frustrating
- •Depends heavily on a strong internet or WiFi connection; offline use is not supported
- •Only includes a separate dust cover rather than a hinged or clamshell lid, which some users find less convenient during play
- •Tracking and anti-skating require manual adjustments to prevent skipping, which may challenge novice users
- •Customer service reportedly lacks responsiveness, causing frustration for those needing support
Bottom Line
The Victrola Stream Onyx delivers premium vinyl sound with polished aesthetics and impressive wireless Sonos integration that many users love for seamless multi-room listening. However, if you value rock-solid wireless reliability and smoother app experience, be aware the Sonos connection can be glitchy and setup finicky without strong WiFi. For those wanting to avoid these connectivity headaches but still enjoy quality vinyl playback, it might be worth considering alternative turntables without wireless features or with different streaming integrations. Overall, this turntable shines best in Sonos-enabled homes with stable networks, offering a great blend of analog warmth and smart functionality.
