- •Effectively reduces anxiety symptoms in dogs during thunderstorms, fireworks, and other stressful situations, including visible improvements in panting and shaking
- •Works noticeably better when paired with the ThunderShirt compared to using it alone or relying on other calming methods like CBD, essential oils, or homeopathic drops
- •Produces immediate visible results, often calming anxious behavior within 5 minutes and sometimes leading to sleep
- •Significantly reduces barking and destructive behavior, with some users reporting a dramatic decrease in barking duration (from 2-3 hours to just 20 minutes after first use)
- •Versatile application—can be sprayed on collars, bedding, crates, bandanas, and blankets without staining, making it easy to use in various situations
- •Reliable and trusted formula that has maintained effectiveness for over 25 years from the makers of ThunderShirt
- •Works across multiple dog breeds and sizes with sustained effectiveness over extended periods
- •Helps anxious dogs engage in normal activities and provides relief strong enough that owners notice increased anxiety when not using it
Cons
- •Effectiveness varies by individual dog, so results are not guaranteed for every pet
- •Requires frequent reapplication every 4-5 hours to maintain the calming effect
- •Works best as a training aid or complement to other anxiety management tools rather than as a standalone cure-all solution
- •May not completely eliminate fear responses in all dogs, though it does provide significant relief
Bottom Line
If your dog struggles with anxiety from thunderstorms, fireworks, travel, or other stressful situations, the Thunderspray Calming Spray is a solid option that many owners swear by—especially when paired with the ThunderShirt. The pheromone-based formula delivers quick, visible results without drugs, and users consistently report noticeable improvements in their dogs' behavior. Just keep in mind that it works best as part of a broader anxiety management strategy rather than a complete fix on its own, and you'll need to reapply it every few hours for best results. Since it outperformed other popular options like CBD and essential oils in user experiences, it's definitely worth trying if you're looking for a vet-recommended calming solution for your anxious pup.
