Pros
- •Great opportunity to save money on Southwest flights, with reports of saving $50 and 5% on trips.
- •Quick delivery, often within 20 minutes, although the timeframe is officially up to 48 hours.
- •Successfully applied to flight purchases, including saving on a $500 credit and buying roundtrip tickets.
- •Works well in certain browsers like Chrome, suggesting some compatibility.
- •Can be used in another person's Southwest account, offering flexibility.
Cons
- •Extensive restrictions, such as being non-refundable and having a one-year expiration for flight credits.
- •Limited use only for Southwest flights, not Southwest Vacations, and can't be transferred to other passengers.
- •Reports of difficulties with the email link on some computers, though often working on phones.
- •Limits on the number of gift cards that can be used for flights and discrepancies in browser compatibility.
- •No Department of Transportation protections or full refunds within 24 hours, which is more restrictive compared to other airlines' policies.
Bottom Line
The Southwest Airlines Gift Card is a solid choice for those looking to save money on flights within the Southwest network. It offers quick delivery and flexibility in usage across accounts, but be mindful of significant limitations regarding refunds, expiration, and specific browser issues. Keep an eye on the restrictions and plan your purchases accordingly to maximize value.
