- •Google TV platform enhances the overall performance, making the system smooth and responsive.
- •Strong 4K 120Hz performance, ideal for gaming with minimal blur and fast response times.
- •Contrast quality is better than some larger models, though not as impressive as OLED or direct-lit options.
- •Bluetooth connectivity for peripherals like mice and keyboards works, although with some sensitivity issues.
- •Good color, clarity, and sound quality typically expected from Sony products.
- •Unique in the market as the only 43" TV offering both 4K and 120Hz in the Canadian market.
Cons
- •Forced updates introduce bugs with no rollback option, leading to user frustration.
- •Sound quality is often flat, with limited adjustments available and issues like unexpected volume changes.
- •Build quality feels cheap, featuring a plastic design for both TV and remote.
- •The TV lacks some popular apps like BBC and ITV, which are missing from the interface.
- •Wi-Fi and screen sharing connectivity issues might necessitate a wired setup.
- •Numerous pre-installed bloatware apps cannot be uninstalled, cluttering the interface.
- •HDMI connectivity is unreliable, with manual resets often needed for ARC settings.
- •Operating system issues result in frequent app crashes, especially the standard web browser.
- •Stand design is misleading; the advertised dual position is not available for the 43" model.
Bottom Line
The Sony X85J 43 Inch TV boasts impressive image quality and gaming performance with its 4K and 120Hz support. However, users should be wary of the frustrating update process and lacklustre sound quality, which detracts from the overall experience. Consider this model if you prioritize gaming and streaming on a responsive platform but anticipate some limitations in sound and app support.
