Cons
- •Sound out of the box may be underwhelming, requiring some adjustments or app tuning
- •Slightly less effective noise cancelling compared to Sony’s flagship models like the WH-1000XM6
- •Lacks water resistance, limiting use during intense activities or outdoor workouts
- •Does not fold for compact storage, which could impact portability
- •Some users may find the treble slightly laid-back, potentially affecting instrument and vocal clarity
- •The sound profile is warm and darkish, which may not appeal to those seeking a more energetic or analytical sound signature
- •No USB-C audio support, which could be inconvenient for some users
- •Slightly shorter battery life compared to previous or competing models, though still ample
- •Premium pricing may feel steep given the overall average sound performance out of the box
- •No mention of active wind noise reduction or advanced environmental modes beyond noise cancelling
Bottom Line
The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones offer a luxurious, comfortable design with excellent noise cancelling and immersive spatial audio—ideal for long listening sessions. However, they may require tuning to meet high expectations, and their noise suppression doesn’t quite reach flagship Sony levels. For the best sound fidelity, models like the WH-1000XM6 might be preferable. These headphones are a stylish, feature-rich choice, especially for those valuing premium materials and eco-conscious design.
