Pros
- •Extremely quick and easy to prepare, requiring just water addition and 90 seconds in the microwave.
- •The sauce delivers a balanced flavor that is moderately spicy with a pleasant sweetness, similar to a good General Tso's sauce.
- •Noodles have a nice chewy texture and a delicious mild herb seasoning that enhances the eating experience.
- •Portion size and noodle-to-sauce ratio are well done for a light but satisfying meal.
- •One of the rare vegetarian prepackaged meals that actually tastes good and can be craved repeatedly.
- •The product provides good value compared to local grocery store options.
- •The salt content is mild and not overpowering, making it a more balanced flavor profile.
- •Flavorful enough to stand out from typical bland instant noodle bowls, with a tasty dry noodle base and moderate chili warmth.
- •Convenient packaging makes it suitable as a quick office lunch or a light meal, and it can be paired with additional proteins or veggies for a fuller dinner.
- •Consistently a favorite for many consumers, often selling out locally due to high demand.
Cons
- •The spiciness is quite mild and may disappoint those looking for a stronger heat kick.
- •Some found the seasoning to be a bit on the sweeter side, which may not suit all palates.
- •A few quality control issues reported, including moldy servings and even an unwanted hair found in one bowl, raising concerns about product safety.
- •Cooking instructions could benefit from slightly more water and an extra 30 seconds in the microwave to improve noodle texture in some cases.
- •Not suitable for those wanting a very spicy or bold flavor profile.
Bottom Line
Simply Asia Spicy Mongolian Noodle Bowl is a convenient, tasty, and mostly reliable vegetarian noodle option that shines with balanced sweetness and mild heat in just 90 seconds of prep. However, if you’re craving serious spice or want rock-solid quality assurance, this might not hit the mark every time. Keep an eye out for occasional quality issues, but if you want a quick and satisfying bowl that isn’t boring, this is a solid pick. For a different flavor experience or more heat, you might want to explore other Simply Asia noodle options or add your own chili boost to customize it.
