Pros
- •Long-time users commend the excellent quality of Shell Rotella T4 for over 35 years.
- •High satisfaction with the oil's performance across repeated purchases.
Cons
- •Packaging issues dominate, with complaints about receiving unwieldy 3-gallon bags rather than individual gallon jugs.
- •Users struggle with handling and dispensing due to the bag's weight and lack of measurement capabilities.
- •Defective packaging, such as a spout mount, leads to messy spills.
- •The product is problematic for vehicles with low fill ports, requiring precise pouring to avoid spills.
- •Concerns about dishonest packaging as the oil quantity may be less than advertised in gallon containers.
- •The packaging does not fit well in cramped spaces and creates difficulties with storage and management.
Bottom Line
While Shell Rotella T4's oil quality remains a top choice for diesel engines, the packaging has left many frustrated. Issues with measurement, handling, and the transition from traditional jugs to large bags have overshadowed the product's high performance. We recommend verifying the packaging type before purchasing if ease of use is a priority for you.
