Pros
- •Lightweight and easy to maneuver, making it suitable for elderly users and quick cleanups.
- •Cordless and bagless design provides convenience and freedom of movement without bulky cords.
- •Strong suction power that works well on various surfaces such as hardwood, vinyl, carpets, and even shag carpet.
- •Performs admirably at picking up pet hair, a big plus for pet owners.
- •Large dust cup with easy-to-open design simplifies maintenance and reduces interruptions during cleaning.
- •Motor automatically boosts power when debris is detected, improving cleaning efficiency.
- •Attractive Nordic Blue color with a premium look and overall solid, durable build quality.
- •Simple assembly out of the box without needing instructions.
- •LED headlights on the brushroll help illuminate darker corners for better visibility while cleaning.
- •Combined power and floor-type settings button keeps controls minimal and streamlined.
Cons
- •Struggles with small debris like Cheerios, sand, tiny rocks, and small paper or plastic pieces, often scattering them rather than fully cleaning.
- •The connection between the floor head and upright wand loosens easily, causing the vacuum to almost come apart during use, which can be frustrating.
- •Requires multiple passes to pick up crumbs effectively, especially on kitchen floors, reducing cleaning efficiency.
- •Heavier than expected, and notably heavier than some competitors like Dyson stick vacuums, which could affect ease of use for longer sessions.
- •Troubleshooting, such as emptying the dust cup, does not seem to improve suction issues for smaller debris.
- •The handle design is somewhat unusual and combined on/off and floor setting control can be inconvenient for some users.
Bottom Line
The Shark Freestyle Max SV2002 is a highly convenient, cordless upright vacuum with strong suction for pet hair and multi-surface cleaning, wrapped up in an attractive and easy-to-maintain design. However, it struggles with small debris pickup and has some build quirks like a loose connection between parts and a heavier-than-expected feel. If you primarily want a lightweight, cordless vacuum that excels on carpets, hardwood, and pet hair—and you don’t mind doing a couple of extra passes on tiny crumbs—this model is a solid choice. For a more lightweight option with potentially better small debris pickup, you might want to compare it with lightweight Dyson stick vacuums.
