Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair Centipede Grass is a revolutionary grass seeding product designed to fill in bare spots on your lawn. This Centipede Grass seed grows in tough conditions, including scorching heat, full sun and partial shade, acidic soil and on slopes. Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair consists of high performance grass seed, continuous release lawn food, and super-absorbent growing mulch material. Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair Centipede Grass also includes a tackifier to help reduce seed wash-away and a protectant to help keep seedlings safe from harmful diseases. There are three easy steps to success: 1) prep the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil, 2) evenly apply EZ Seed® so the area is mostly covered but bare ground is still visible, and 3) saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and seed turns dark brown. Plant when daytime temperatures are between 70°F and 90°F with no danger of frost. For best results, water when mulch turns light brown to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

Meh I don't think any of it is sprouting. I would not buy again. I bought another brand that has a colored fertilizer on the seed . I like seeing the seed on the ground so I can months growth. It's not for lack of water as the news reports we have had 14 days in a row in the area. I put winter rye in the area and reseeded this spring with the Bermuda seed. The rye is dying out as it should. I continue to water daily and wait for green sprouts.

1 for 2 I've purchased this product twice. The first time, it germinated great. Exactly as described. And now, a year later, the new grass is thriving. This year, however, it's been a different story. Prepped the patches exactly as prescribed, watered the perfect amount, and ... nothing. Not a blade of grass on any of the patches four weeks later. Not sure what to do. The label on the packaging says 'guaranteed.' I have to disagree.

Overpriced bag of dirt! This is nothing but an overpriced bag of dirt. Applied according to directions, watered regular, I live in Florida so it gets plenty of sun, never got one single grass seed out of TWO bags. Thank god it was buy one get one free but now I see why it was such a good deal. Looking at the bag, it looks just like dirt, not any grass seed I have experienced in the past. I should have learned and listened to all the other reviews. Do not waste your time or hard earned money and or time to water this bag of dirt.

[Incentivized Review] One month before/after...I am very impressed I am going out on a limb and giving this 5 stars after one month. I have had a challenged backyard...large oaks cast a lot of shade so I have struggled to grow anything but weeds. I have tried a few different seeds, sod, plugs with really no success. Was wondering the halls of Lowe's a ran across this on sale in April. Figured what the heck...I bought a few bags and really didn't prep the yard at all (in retrospect I should have killed the weeds first) and just laid this stuff down and set my sprinklers to run 15 minutes twice a day. After about a week I could see little sprigs coming up. Within 2 weeks it was probably about 2 inches and starting to fill in. The picture below is taken one month apart. I’ve turned the watering back to about 15 minutes daily and it seems to be holding up. I’ve actually mowed it twice with a riding mower which really concerned me tearing up the young grass and it has handled it great. There are still some patchy areas which are probably due more to me not spreading it evenly so I plan to buy some more and use just to fill in those areas. I did about 75% of my backyard with 4 bags which is really more than it states it would cover so the sparse areas are really my fault trying to spread it thinner than recommended. I am impressed...actually more than impressed. I have killed off my front yard of weeds and bought more of this to do the front. I think it really isn’t ‘designed’ to do your whole lawn but with the success I’ve had and the fact it was on sale for 50% off I didn’t mind paying the premium. Can’t wait to see how the front yard turns out as I actually prepped it properly by killing the weeds and giving it a good rake to remove undergrowth.

Expensive and didn't work I bought a 10LB and a 20LB bag of Scotts patch and repair early in June to repair burned out areas where deer had peed. Live in Georgia and our yard is entirely Bermuda grass. Prepared each area by loosening soil, and adding new top soil and sand before applying Scotts EZ seed, Bermudagrass. Watered 2x a day for over a month...No new Bermudagrass in sight! What did emerge was some other variety of grass (shown in photos).

Poor product. Seeds never took hold Bought this from a big box store last year to fill in spots. Followed the instructions and used good soil to help the bald spots. This failed to take hold at all. Entire bag was wasted. Never figured to go and complain until I saw my 2nd Scott's commercial this yr. Seems I’m not the only one that had issues.

Don't waste your money I tried this and watered and watered it, but not over watered. Not one, not even one of them sprouted. I was past the return period, but this stuff doesn’t even grow. I would have had better luck with normal grass seed. And this says it’ll grow in any condition. Good way to steal people’s money. Make a product, put a false claim on it, and sell it. You figure only 10% will return it if that. As you can see not happy at all. I didn’t take a picture, but imagine bare dirt with nothing growing on it. That’s the before and after picture.

Watering is key This concept is brilliant. Especially for our sandy Florida soil. I prepped the area by removing weeds, and watering just the dirt/sand for a couple of days. I gave it another tilling, and watering. I watered it and then lay down the grass seed with the fertilizer and mulch. I didn’t let any of the water pool as it says. Watered until everything was saturated and because it’s sandy watered it again. I watered at 7a.m. and around 6-7p.m. everyday. I think not letting it completely dry out in the scorching Florida heat is what helped it grow. Grown in so green and gorgeous it has! Even if you give it a light misting during the day I wouldn’t allow it to be completely light brown because of the sandy soil. Again this 3 in 1 concept is brilliant for the Florida soil.

[Incentivized Review] My new favorite lawn patching solution!! This stuff is fantastic! My new favorite! I have never seen any lawn patching solution like this before. The seeds are basically inside this crumb-sized mulch-type material that you spread out over the area that needs to be seeded. Once you have it adequately covered, you water it and the mulch will expand approximately 4x what it was originally. This expansion allows the material to merge together and create a connected mulch that serves as a moist bedding for the new seed to germinate and grow. As time passes, the mulch color will turn from dark brown to light brown, which is a visual indicator that it is time to water it some more. How much easier could it get!?!? And a 10 lb bag covers quite a bit of space, even when applied quite liberally.
