Pros
- •Picture quality is outstanding with vibrant colors, excellent brightness, and vivid color quality that shines especially in bright rooms.
- •The 65-inch Neo QLED 4K display delivers significantly better visuals compared to older models, praised particularly for traditional TV viewing.
- •Setup is generally quick and straightforward, making the initial start reasonably easy.
- •The TV performs well for gaming, including 4K resolution and lower settings, with FreeSync support enhancing the gaming experience.
- •Sound quality is clear and satisfying for many users, providing a decent complement to the stunning visuals.
- •Samsung includes a 3-year Amber Protection Plan that offers a screen cleaner spray—some find this a useful addition for maintenance.
- •Customer service is praised for being responsive and helpful without long wait times.
- •The TV can be used as a non-smart device if not connected to the internet, offering flexibility.
Cons
- •Skin tones and overall color calibration can be off, with faces sometimes appearing gray and AI color adjustments failing to improve these issues.
- •Motion processing on streaming platforms causes stuttering, dropped frames, and inconsistent playback, frustrating users who frequently watch apps like Netflix or Hulu.
- •Sound quality can be poor for some, described as tinny and lacking depth; occasional sound issues require restarting the TV via the remote power button.
- •Closed captions are reportedly difficult to activate or malfunction altogether.
- •Initial setup can be more time-consuming than expected, especially when signing into streaming services; user-friendliness is less than ideal.
- •The heavy metal stand presents a handling hazard if not managed carefully.
- •Despite premium positioning, some feel streaming experience and motion processing have regressed compared to previous Samsung models.
Bottom Line
The SAMSUNG QN65QN90FAFXZA offers striking picture quality and solid gaming performance, making it a great choice if your main use is traditional TV or console gaming in bright environments. However, if you're a heavy streaming app user, beware of motion processing glitches and sound inconsistency. Skin tone accuracy and ease of use may also be less than stellar. If streaming video smoothness and top-notch audio are priorities, you might want to explore other flagship models or wait for firmware updates addressing these issues. Overall, this TV delivers premium visuals with some quirks to consider.
