- •Physical storage closely matches the advertised 128GB capacity.
- •USB-C adapters used with the drive are also well-built and reliable.
- •Adequate write speeds for general use and backups, though slightly lower than read speeds.
Cons
- •Write speeds tend to be lower than the read speeds, averaging around 60MB/s instead of the advertised 100+MB/s, which can slow down large data backups.
- •Real-world write speed benchmarks sometimes fall short of the manufacturer’s claims, impacting heavy write tasks.
- •While fast, the read speed in some benchmarks is about half the listed 400MB/s in certain conditions, which might surprise power users.
- •Lacks advanced built-in security features like AES encryption or password protection, which some competing drives offer.
- •Not the top performer in write speed if your primary need involves frequent large file transfers or editing directly from the drive.
Bottom Line
The SAMSUNG BAR Plus 3.1 USB Flash Drive in 128GB is a durable, attractive, and generally fast storage solution that excels in read performance and long-lasting reliability. It’s perfect for everyday users who want a rugged, portable drive for multimedia files, photos, and general backups with seamless cross-platform compatibility. If blazing-fast write speeds or enhanced security features are critical for your workflow, you may want to consider alternatives with stronger encryption or higher write throughput. However, for most users seeking a solid balance of speed, durability, and ease of use at a reasonable price, this is a smart buy.
