- •Features Vision AI and OLED HDR+ technologies, enhancing contrast and overall viewing experience with rich detail.
- •Offers a sleek design with reliable build quality that fits well in modern home theaters.
- •The user interface is generally smooth and the setup process is straightforward for most users.
- •Wide range of smart TV apps and connectivity options provide access to popular streaming services without noticeable lag.
- •The included Deco Gear Complete Home Theater Beginner's Guidebook is a helpful bonus for first-time home theater builders.
- •Remote control is responsive and simple to use, facilitating quick navigation through menus.
Cons
- •Tizen OS interface can be frustrating, prioritizing subscription apps over ease of access and cluttering the screen with unwanted apps that cannot be removed.
- •The “resume last app on power-up” feature does not work, returning users to the Smart Hub home screen instead.
- •Navigating to frequently used apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime often requires multiple clicks, which can feel cumbersome.
- •AI-driven settings sometimes make adjusting even basic aspects like aspect ratio unnecessarily difficult, potentially leading to improperly displayed content.
- •The plastic mounting hardware at the back is reported to be weak and prone to breaking, which could cause safety concerns if wall-mounted.
- •Using Samsung’s SmartThing app for picture calibration can result in poor picture quality compared to manual adjustments.
Bottom Line
The Samsung 77 inch OLED 4K S90F is a powerhouse when it comes to picture quality, boasting vivid colors, deep blacks, and a sharp 4K display enhanced by Vision AI and OLED HDR+. However, the smart TV interface leaves much to be desired—its cluttered, app-heavy Tizen OS and awkward navigation could frustrate users who prioritize ease of use. Also, beware of the flimsy plastic mounting bracket if you plan to wall-mount this beauty. If picture quality is your top priority and you’re comfortable tweaking settings manually, this is an excellent choice. But if you want a smoother smart TV experience, you might want to also consider alternative flagship OLED models from other brands known for slicker interfaces.
