Pros
- •Delivers excellent 4K video quality with true-to-life detail and vivid colors, including color night vision.
- •Wide-angle video with a wider vertical field of view for better monitoring of steps, packages, and visitors.
- •Advanced motion detection reduces false alerts by distinguishing people, vehicles, and packages.
- •Easy and quick installation with straightforward instructions, suitable for both beginners and tech-savvy users.
- •Wired setup ensures a stable connection and discreet wiring, with compatibility for a downward angled wedge to improve camera angles.
- •Fast loading times and smooth performance on 5G networks.
- •The app interface is exceptionally well-designed, user-friendly, and offers quick previews on smartwatches.
- •Sound quality is significantly better than competitor models.
- •Comes from a reputable brand known for reliable and quality security devices.
- •Offers enhanced security features and improved performance compared to older Ring doorbell models.
Cons
- •Requires a strong and stable WiFi connection due to the high bandwidth demands of 4K streaming, which may necessitate moving your router closer.
- •No option to downgrade video resolution to save bandwidth or improve connectivity.
- •The included Chime Mini speaker is low quality, producing distorted and unpleasant doorbell sounds.
- •This model does not support traditional mechanical doorbell chimes despite what some product claims might imply.
- •Users are advised to skip the bundled Chime Mini and instead use Ring Chime 3rd Gen or Amazon Echo devices for better alerts.
- •The horizontal field of view is slightly narrower than some previous models, though still adequate for driveways and entryways.
Bottom Line
If stunning 4K video and advanced security features are at the top of your list, the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (newest model) delivers with crystal-clear video, improved motion detection, and a sleek design. Just be prepared to provide a solid WiFi connection and consider upgrading from the included low-quality chime speaker to a Ring Chime 3rd Gen or Echo device for a better alert experience. For those who want broad compatibility with mechanical chimes or lower bandwidth needs, you might want to explore alternative models or accessories.
