- •Reusable pods allow for repeated use with different attractants.
- •The traps can effectively eliminate fruit fly infestations when strategically placed.
- •Initial non-success becomes a success when traps are moved nearer to active fruit fly areas.
- •Temporarily storing fruit in the refrigerator can enhance trap effectiveness.
Cons
- •Effectiveness is inconsistent, with mixed experiences reported by users.
- •Traps initially did not catch flies, with success only after additional steps like adding refill packets.
- •Refills can be tough to find and don't last the advertised 120 days.
- •Design issues cause some larger flies to get stuck and lay eggs inside.
- •Lightweight design can cause spills, and assembly requires patience.
- •Many found the product did not attract or catch fruit flies, performing worse than vinegar traps.
- •Packaging is difficult to open, adding to user frustration.
Bottom Line
While the Raid Apple Fruit Fly Trap shows potential, its inconsistent performance and design flaws might lead you to consider alternatives, such as using homemade vinegar traps or combining traditional fly paper with the traps for better results. The reusable nature of the pods is a plus, but be prepared for a more hands-on approach to maximize effectiveness.
