Pros
- •Heats and cools water quickly and quietly, offering both hot and cold water options with reliable performance.
- •Solid build quality with a stable balance and a durable feel, lasting over a year without significant issues for many users.
- •Convenient 3-gallon size makes it easier to carry than larger 5-gallon containers, and compatible with specific screw-on bottle tops to reduce mess.
- •Provides distilled water, which helps avoid consuming fluoridated water, a nice perk for health-conscious buyers.
- •Environmentally friendly by significantly reducing plastic usage through refillable bottles.
- •Compact, shorter design makes loading bottles easier compared to bulkier models, though it requires some space for ventilation.
- •Dispenses water faster than some previous models and avoids retaining unpleasant tastes with proper rinsing.
- •Attractive black finish that looks better than many older water coolers on the market.
Cons
- •Some units have leaked right out of the box or after extended use, causing water puddles and usability issues for affected customers.
- •The product’s lifespan can be limited, with occasional reports of overheating and boiling water where the top becomes hot unexpectedly.
- •Pour basin is too small, often resulting in water spillage when filling large bottles unless used with compatible tops or not filled to full capacity.
- •Internal reservoir and tubing are plastic with unclear BPA-free status, which can be a concern for those sensitive to plastic materials.
- •The design is low to the ground, requiring bending to fill water—an inconvenience for some users.
- •Some buyers may need to purchase additional screw-on adapters to make it compatible with their bottles.
- •Lack of storage space on the unit compared to other water coolers could be a downside for some.
Bottom Line
The Primo Water 4005136 Deluxe Water Plastic Dispenser is an attractive, efficient, and environmentally friendly option for those looking to easily heat and cool distilled water in a compact size. However, its small pour basin and occasional leakage issues mean it’s best suited for buyers willing to use compatible bottles and prepared for basic maintenance. If you want a water cooler with proven longevity and less risk of leakage or overheating, you might consider looking at models with a stainless-steel reservoir or larger drip trays, but for the price and functionality, this unit performs solidly for most users.
