- •Powerful 20V motor delivers strong cutting performance, suitable for plywood, laminate, flooring, framing lumber, and general wood cutting tasks.
- •Cuts cleanly and accurately with minimal blade wobble or bevel issues when paired with a sharp, upgraded blade.
- •Solid, durable build with a heavier, sturdier design compared to smaller models, enhancing stability during use.
- •Battery system is compatible across PORTER-CABLE 20V MAX tools, providing convenience and flexibility.
- •Motor placement on the right side improves visibility of the cutting line for better precision.
- •Blade changes are straightforward and quick once accustomed to the guard mechanism.
- •Portable cordless design allows use in areas without power outlets, making it great for everyday DIY and occasional professional jobs.
- •Safety mechanism is reliable, even if slightly stiff to operate.
- •Good value for money with dependable performance that can handle mostly heavy use without delicate handling.
- •Adjustable features like bevel and height, although some require careful handling.
Cons
- •Battery life is limited, especially with older or lower-capacity (1.3 Ah) batteries, often requiring multiple batteries or frequent recharges for extended jobs.
- •Standard blade included is underwhelming; users strongly recommend upgrading to a sharper, higher-quality blade for better cutting results.
- •Guard design can catch on material and restrict smooth cuts; some users resort to pinning the guard out of the way temporarily.
- •Height adjustment lever has limited rotation range, making it a bit tricky to loosen or tighten without care.
- •Requires additional accessories like guide jigs or sleds for perfectly straight and precise cuts — not ideal for ultra-fine finish work out of the box.
- •Faster battery drain compared to smaller models due to the more powerful motor.
- •Not tested or recommended for very thick hardwoods or heavy-duty professional framing work.
- •Heavier design, while improving durability, may be less comfortable for prolonged use compared to lighter saws.
Bottom Line
The PORTER-CABLE 20V MAX 6-1/2-Inch Cordless Circular Saw (PCC660B) offers a solid balance of power, portability, and build quality at a reasonable price, making it a strong choice for DIYers and light-to-moderate professional use. Just be prepared to invest in higher-capacity batteries for longer job times and upgrade the blade for the best cutting performance. If you need extremely precise straight cuts or heavy-duty hardwood cutting, you might consider pairing this with guide accessories or exploring more specialized models. Overall, this saw fits nicely into the PORTER-CABLE 20V ecosystem, providing reliable cordless convenience and value.
