Pros
- •High video clarity enhances monitoring capability.
- •Dual camera lenses provide a comprehensive view, improving verification of packages.
- •Multiview feature allows simultaneous viewing of yard and door.
- •Excellent wide-angle coverage, ideal for monitoring a front door area perpendicular to the street.
- •No subscription is required for operation; footage is stored locally on the chime device within the home.
- •Wired option eliminates concerns about battery changes.
- •Sensitivity settings are perfect, effectively capturing movement from people and packages.
- •The automatic light feature at night aids in locating items like keys.
Cons
- •8GB of storage is considered insufficient by many users, with no SD card option for expansion.
- •The associated app, not developed by Philips, has poor ratings and is developed by a Chinese-based company.
- •Philips offers a cloud server service, but it is not available for this outdoor camera, limiting its functionality.
Bottom Line
The Philips Security Video Doorbell Camera is a solid choice for those looking for high video clarity and effective monitoring capabilities without the hassle of a subscription. However, users may find the internal storage capacity insufficient and may have concerns with app performance and cloud service limitations. If storage is a primary concern, consider other models with expandable memory or available cloud services.
