- •The vivid 7.9” 1080p screen offers the best handheld graphics Nintendo has produced, with bright and beautiful visuals despite not being OLED.
- •Supports 4K output and up to 120 fps on compatible TVs, elevating the docked gaming experience.
- •Backwards compatibility with original Switch games gives instant access to a large library, often with enhanced performance.
- •The new Joy-Con 2 controllers feature magnetic attachments and can be used as a mouse in compatible games, adding versatility.
- •Comes packed with the exclusive Mario Kart World game, offering a fresh racing experience with up to 24-player online races and local multiplayer for up to 4 players.
- •GameChat feature provides seamless voice, video, and screen-share chatting during gameplay, adding a social dimension.
- •Larger Joy-Cons improve comfort and usability, especially for adult hands.
- •The system feels well-built and substantial, continuing Nintendo's tradition of quality hardware.
- •Excellent battery life supports days of casual to moderate gaming on a single charge.
- •Internal storage of 256GB (expandable via microSD Express cards) accommodates large game files, including its own exclusive titles.
Cons
- •The launch game library is limited, with only a few exclusives like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bonanza available so far.
- •Mario Kart World, while visually appealing and fun with friends, may not engage solo players for long periods.
- •Some popular Nintendo Switch titles may not yet be fully optimized or compatible with the new system.
- •Requires system-provided AC adapter during setup and system transfer to ensure smooth operation.
- •The system only supports specific "EX" or "ESX" type microSD cards for storage expansion.
- •Screen protectors are recommended as the large, vivid LCD screen can be prone to scratches without one.
- •Considered somewhat pricey, though this is typical for next-gen Nintendo hardware.
- •Battery life can vary significantly depending on the game played and usage.
- •Online features like GameChat will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership after the open-access period ends in March 2026.
- •While docked 4K output is supported, frame rate caps at 60 fps on 4K, which may limit some performance expectations.
Bottom Line
The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle is a compelling evolution of Nintendo's hybrid console, delivering a bright, sharp screen and a boost in raw power alongside attractive new social features like GameChat. Its backwards compatibility and versatile play modes make it an excellent fit for current Switch users and newcomers alike. However, the limited new game lineup at launch and relatively high cost may give some buyers pause. If you're craving the latest in portable gaming with enhanced graphics plus a fresh Mario Kart adventure, this bundle is worth considering. For those looking for a broader initial game selection or a lower price point, keeping an eye on upcoming exclusives or considering the original Switch might be a good option.
