- •The highly responsive and reliable touchless infrared motion sensor makes opening the lid hygienic and convenient.
- •Sleek stainless steel body with a modern gray plastic lid fits well in kitchens and blends nicely with other appliances.
- •The 13-gallon capacity is spacious enough for typical kitchen use without being overly bulky.
- •Integrated bag holder ring keeps trash bags securely in place and hidden, maintaining a neat and tidy appearance.
- •Smooth and quiet automatic lid operation with the lid staying open as long as motion is detected, preventing messes.
- •Durable build quality; some users report the trashcan still working well after over 5 years of use.
- •Battery life is excellent, often lasting six months to nearly two years depending on usage and battery quality.
- •Sensor lid hinge design helps prevent scuffing of nearby cabinets or countertops.
- •Easy and quick installation, with straightforward maintenance and cleaning.
- •Effectively contains odors, helping keep the surrounding area smelling fresh.
Cons
- •The infrared sensor can be a bit too sensitive at times, occasionally triggering the lid to open when merely walking nearby.
- •The button to keep the lid open requires a reset process, which can be a minor inconvenience.
- •The lid is made of gray plastic rather than stainless steel, which some users find less premium or less cohesive with the body.
- •Requires batteries which are not included, and dropping below fresh battery power affects sensor performance.
- •A few users note that the sensor may need occasional cleaning or resetting if the lid doesn’t open reliably.
Bottom Line
The NINESTARS DZT-50-28SL offers a classy, user-friendly, and hygienic touchless trash solution with great battery life and solid build quality—perfect for anyone who wants a no-fuss, sleek 13-gallon trash can with reliable sensor tech. Just be aware the sensor can be a bit too eager sometimes, and the non-stainless steel lid might not match everyone's style preferences. If you’re looking for a similarly sized trashcan but want a different design or features, we can help you find alternative options as well.
