Pros
- •Contains real shredded chicken and duck, not just pressed chunks, making it more appealing and recognizable as real food.
- •Extremely palatable, even for very picky senior dogs, including those with dental issues or missing teeth.
- •Grain-free formulation is a healthy choice, often preferred by dogs and suitable for sensitive stomachs.
- •Comes with plenty of liquid broth, which some pet parents use as a tasty topper for dry food to enhance flavor and encourage eating.
- •Convenient 2.75 oz portion size is ideal for use as a meal topper or small complete snack.
- •Appears like people-food with visible shredded meat and vegetables, avoiding the typical pate texture many dogs dislike.
- •Made with premium, high-quality ingredients that seem to be human-grade and healthy.
- •Dogs show a clear preference for this over some more expensive wet dog foods.
- •Easy-to-use containers offer cleaner feeding compared to traditional cans.
- •Helps improve appetite and digestion in some dogs without causing diarrhea.
Cons
- •The liquid broth can be off-putting for some dogs who prefer less soupy food; draining the liquid is often necessary.
- •Recent packaging lids have been reported as difficult to peel and prone to splashing juice, creating messes.
- •Some users have noticed a decline in quality compared to earlier versions, with more gravy and less actual meat.
- •The portion size may be small for larger dogs if used as a sole meal rather than a topper.
- •Packaging could benefit from being larger or more economical for multiple-dog households.
Bottom Line
Nature's Recipe Wet Dog Food Grain Free Chicken & Duck Recipe In Broth (12 Pack) shines as a highly palatable, grain-free topper or small meal option, especially for picky or senior dogs who appreciate the shredded meat and broth. However, if you prefer a less soupy formula or larger portion sizes, you might find yourself draining the broth or serving multiple containers. For those seeking consistently higher meat content or a bigger meal size, keep an eye out for newer batches or alternatives. Overall, this product offers wholesome ingredients and strong flavor appeal that dogs love, making it a solid choice for boosting picky eaters’ diets.
