Pros
- •High-quality, durable construction ensures a safe and long-lasting propane connection.
- •The 12-foot hose length provides excellent flexibility, allowing the heater to be positioned far from the propane tank for safety and convenience.
- •Metal fittings with internal connection style create a secure, leak-resistant attachment to bulk tanks.
- •Adapts portable heaters designed for 1-pound cylinders to use a 20-pound bulk tank effectively, preventing flame outages due to pressure drops common with smaller tanks.
- •Easy to install and detach, with a quick disconnect and swivel fitting to prevent twisting and enhance usability.
- •Works particularly well with Mr. Heater Big Buddy units and similar portable propane heaters.
- •Using a bulk tank with this hose avoids the cooling and pressure drop issues seen with small disposable cylinders during high consumption.
- •The included fittings provide safety valves and tight, reliable connections that won’t come loose during use.
- •The recommended air filter complements the setup nicely, improving overall performance.
- •Consistently reliable with no reported leaks or performance hiccups during use.
Cons
- •The hose material is somewhat stiff and tends to coil back, making it difficult to fully straighten out for neat placement.
- •Requires a separate filter for proper operation, which is not included and adds to the overall cost and complexity.
- •The propane check valve can shut off gas flow if the tank valve is opened too quickly, which can confuse users into thinking the hose is defective.
- •Troubleshooting the check valve requires a specific reset process (shutting off the tank valve, disconnecting the hose, burning off gas, then carefully repressurizing), but this info isn’t provided by the manufacturer, leading some users to discard the hose unnecessarily.
- •Adapter compatibility depends on the attached appliance having its own regulator if reduced pressure is required, as the hose delivers bulk tank pressure similar to small cylinders.
Bottom Line
The Mr. Heater 75,000 BTU 12-Foot Propane Hose Assembly delivers durable, reliable performance for anyone looking to safely adapt portable propane heaters to larger 20-pound bulk tanks. Its sturdy build, secure fittings, and generous length make it a solid choice for extended outdoor use — camping, tailgating, or just safer heater placement. Just be aware that it requires a separate air filter and some learning to manage its check valve properly, so patience is key. If you want a hassle-free, high-quality propane hose assembly without the need to tinker with check valve quirks, this one’s a great pick.
