Cons
- •Activation can be frustrating due to issues with serial numbers and the need to clear any outstanding debts of the previous owner before use.
- •Despite being advertised as unlocked, the phone often arrives locked to Verizon with Verizon firmware and apps pre-installed, causing compatibility headaches when switching carriers.
- •Switching to a non-Verizon carrier requires activation via Wi-Fi first, manual disabling of Verizon apps, and full device restarts.
- •The Verizon logo appears on startup and cannot be removed, which may be a dealbreaker for some.
- •The phone is not factory reset before shipping, which is inconvenient for the buyer.
- •Cheap and disposable packaging is used, which may influence buyers expecting better presentation or easier returns.
- •The presence of Verizon apps and firmware can interfere with mobile data and other network functionality until properly disabled.
- •The phone is not immediately usable for new services until past financial obligations on the device are cleared.
Bottom Line
The Motorola Moto Razr 5G 2025 stands out with its stylish foldable design, innovative external screen texting, and strong core specs that can satisfy those seeking a premium Android experience with a nostalgic flip-phone twist. However, be prepared for some activation headaches related to carrier unlocking, especially since many units come locked to Verizon with pre-installed carrier apps that need manual disabling to work smoothly on other networks. If you want a straightforward unlocked experience without the Verizon-specific hurdles, you might want to explore other unlocked flagship foldables or newer Motorola models that don’t carry such baggage.
