Cons
- •Batteries must be fully and precisely inserted into the charger dock; slight misplacement triggers flashing error lights
- •New batteries sometimes come with a protective coating on the charging prongs that can interfere with initial charging and requires breaking in
- •Charger emits a normal hissing sound during operation, which may be concerning to some users unfamiliar with it
- •Only one battery charges at a time despite two ports, causing sequential rather than simultaneous charging
- •Lacks an audible alert when charging completes, so users must visually check the charger
- •Could benefit from improved concurrent charging capability and completion notifications
Bottom Line
The Milwaukee 48-59-1850 M18 XC 5.0 Starter Kit is a dependable, powerful, and durable choice for anyone invested in the M18 battery system or looking for a high-capacity starter pack. Its fast-charging, long battery life, and compatibility with multiple tools make it especially convenient for demanding work. However, keep in mind the charger charges only one battery at a time and requires careful battery placement. If you need truly simultaneous charging or audible alerts, you might want to explore other charger options, though overall this kit offers excellent value for the price.
