Pros
- •Fits the 2007 Honda Civic sedan front door perfectly and true to size for those models.
- •Significantly improves audio quality compared to original VR speakers by effectively filling in sound gaps.
- •Well-made and high-quality construction from a reliable brand known for producing quality automotive accessories.
- •Can be used safely with proper water protection, allowing durability in door environments.
- •Easier to modify than other similar mounting brackets if adjustments are needed.
- •Recommended by speaker manufacturers for compatibility with specific car models and speaker setups.
- •Positive experiences have led some users to purchase additional sets for other doors.
Cons
- •Does not fit Acura TSX 2005 model or Pioneer 6.5" speakers without heavy and sometimes frustrating modifications.
- •Installation often requires significant modification like removing plastic parts, cutting multiple inner tabs, or using power tools such as a Dremel.
- •Screws from original speakers can be reused, but the adapter does not include screws and existing holes may not align perfectly, sometimes requiring drilling new holes.
- •Some users report rattling after installation, suggesting the fit may not be rock solid for all speaker types.
- •Not a perfect out-of-the-box fit; expect some trial, error, and manual adjustments.
Bottom Line
The Metra 82-7805 speaker adapter plate is a solid choice if you own a 2006-2011 Honda Civic and want to upgrade your door speakers to 6" to 6-3/4" sizes, especially if you are working with VR or similar compatible speakers. It delivers improved sound quality and good build quality but *prepare for some hands-on modifications during installation.* If you're using Pioneer speakers or a different car model, you might want to consider alternatives to avoid the hassle of heavy modification. Overall, it’s a reliable adapter plate when you’re ready to put in a bit of work for better audio performance.
