- •Large 64 oz water tank enabling up to 2 hours of continuous steam for extended cleaning sessions.
- •Effective at cleaning small crevices, cracks, and detailed areas thanks to specialized small brushes.
- •Steam mop attachment works well on tile floors and shower surfaces for improved appearance.
- •Lightweight and compact design with well-balanced hose and power cord length for ease of use.
- •Upright canister design helps keep the hose close and angled conveniently.
- •Provides a chemical-free cleaning alternative, suitable for people wanting an eco-friendly option.
- •Many users find it cost-effective compared to professional tile and grout cleaning services.
- •According to multiple reviews, customer service has been responsive and helpful when dealing with issues.
Cons
- •Takes a long 10-15 minutes to heat up, which can disrupt workflow during cleaning projects.
- •Attachment connections feel cheap and are prone to becoming loose or detaching unexpectedly, posing a minor burn risk.
- •Some components like the extension wand and handpiece are made from flimsy plastic that can break with heavy use.
- •The unit may unexpectedly shut off when water runs low, requiring refills before continuing.
- •Instructions are unclear and there is no funnel for water filling, leading to slow, careful filling to avoid spills or spitting.
- •Despite the strong steam, it struggles to clean grout effectively and users report brush attachments breaking after limited use on grout.
- •Not suitable for heavy-duty degreasing or cleaning car rims and grills; steam alone is often insufficient.
- •Hose and cord frequently tangle during use, which can be frustrating for maneuverability.
- •Steam tube and handle can get very hot, necessitating breaks to cool down.
- •Not recommended for upholstery or sensitive surfaces; misuse can potentially damage latex paint or delicate flooring.
Bottom Line
The McCulloch MC1385 Deluxe Canister Steam Cleaner is a versatile, powerful steam cleaner packed with attachments and long run time, making it a solid choice for chemical-free cleaning on hard surfaces and detail work. However, the long heat-up time, flimsy attachments, and limited grout and heavy-duty cleaning performance mean it's not perfect for every job. If you want a reliable all-around steam cleaner with strong steam and variety, this works well—just be prepared to handle some quirks and take care with delicate surfaces. For a more grout-focused or heavy-duty cleaning need, you might want to explore other steam cleaners with sturdier attachments or specialized grout tools.
